Lords of the Fallen Sequel Loses Another Dev

Lords of the Fallen 2 continues to get hit with setbacks, the latest being yet another developer leaving the project.

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything about the anticipated sequel to the brutal RPG Lords of the Fallen as the project continues to be hit with setbacks and roadblocks preventing its continuation. The latest update for Lords of the Fallen 2 comes with it the news that the sequel has lost another developer due to “inadequate execution.”

CI Games released a Polish press release that Eurogamer translated detailing the reason behind the latest loss. The statement reads: “The termination of the agreement was submitted due to inadequate execution by Defiant [of] a key work stage (milestone no. 11), a so-called vertical slice. The quality of the work was lower than expected by the company, as precisely described in the agreement, despite three calls to improve the quality of this stage of work.”

Defiant Studios founder David Griijns then responded to the initial press release, citing that it gave off the wrong impression regarding the state of the company: “We categorically disagree with the portrayal of Defiant Studios made by CI Games. The team that was working on CI Games’ project was comprised of exceedingly talented developers whose work we fully stand behind. Our team knows how to build quality games as is evident by their key roles in Just Cause 3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 5, Devil May Cry (DmC) and many other top tier projects.”

He added, “As we intend to abide by our contractual confidentiality obligations, at this time we cannot expand further on this matter.”

At this time, there is no release window offered for the sequel, though it looks like there’s some miscommunication happening between Defiant and CI Games.
