Metal: Hellsinger was officially announced at IGN’s Summer of Gaming event and is set to release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in 2021. The newly announced title takes place in hell and will task players with staying on-beat as they make their way through the fiery story.
As you can see in the official reveal trailer below, Metal: Hellsinger places a heavy focus on rhythmic gameplay and features tons of awesome hardcore metal (in case the name didn’t give it away.) As far as the story goes, players will take the role of a half-demon half-human called The Unknown and will be tasked with making their way through eight different hells as they try to destroy The Red Judge.
Further, Metal: Hellsinger will also feature an online challenge mode, which will allow players to play through individual songs to try and reach a high score and climb up the leaderboards. While we don’t know much else about the new title from The Outsider, we do know that it will be available on both current-gen and next-gen systems. Over the next few months, more information will certainly be released as Metal: Hellsinger gets closer to its release date.
The game will be directed by David Goldfarb, who has been a part of games like Payday 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and will feature music from Trivium’s Matt Heafy and Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz, among others.
If you’d like to learn more about Metal: Hellsinger, you can check out IGN’s interview with David Goldfarb in the video below. In the interview, Goldfarb will offer a more detailed explanation of what the game’s about and what to expect as it gets closer to a release.
