Fortnite is no stranger to adding popular mainstream media references in the battle royale game, even if sometimes those inclusions result in lawsuits. That being said, the “Rickroll” is a popular way to troll people online and is the meme that won’t ever die spawned from a song (Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley) that doesn’t know how to quit. And now? Now it has officially invaded Fortnite with the new Rickroll emote.
The team behind the online shooter were very clever in how they revealed the newest emote to the world. What better way to introduce a trolling tool than by … well, by trolling:

The responding comments were hilarious, even non-Fortnite players chiming in to give props where they were due. They Rickrolled us on a mass scale, you really can’t be mad at it. So, yeah. Now on top of dodging 12 year-olds from sniping you, you’re going to have to wade through a sea of Rickrolls. Thanks, we hate it!
I did not just get rick rolled by fortnite…
