A new Half-Life game is reportedly getting revealed soon ahead of the Game Awards, a rumored VR title by the name of Alyx. With the Game Awards 2019 looming just around the corner at the beginning of December, new reveal speculation is once more at a high and you can’t talk new game rumors without broaching the tender Half-Life subject.
While not a Half-Life 3, much to the dismay of many we’re sure, Half-Life Alyx has been leaked thanks to an interview transcript stating that the newest adventure will make its grand debut during The Game Awards on December 12th. Prior to the interview’s leak, a source that accurately leaked DOTA Underlords, leaked a confirmation from Geoff Keighley saying “March 2020, Half-Life: Alyx comin’ out, and again, yeah, we’ll do The Final Hours next year. You know, it’s been so fun to do those with Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Portal, and that will take everyone through really the past decade at Valve and all that you guys have been through, all the experiments that you don’t know about.”
An anonymous source replied back in the transcript confirming its VR purpose by saying “I mean we would love to be delivering a version of this that you could play with a mouse and a keyboard, but like as we said, it began as an exploration of VR.” They added, “You can see their whole body– Respond to the situation. You know, panicking, dropping clips on the ground as they fumble their weapons ’cause a zombie’s in front of them, all these things, they’re just – it’s been really fun watching playtests.”
Valve is pretty solid when it comes to staying tight-lipped on their release plans, so we’re not confident we’ll hear anything back until the game’s reveal. But, if the December 12th Game Awards reveal rumor is true, then it looks like we’ll be learning about what’s next here in less than a month.
