New Outer Worlds Trailer Asks If You’re the Hero Or the Villain

Are you renegade or paragon in ... oh wait, wrong game.

Are you renegade or paragon in … oh wait, wrong game. Just kidding. Even though the Outer Worlds is basically Fallout New Vegas meets Mass Effect, it definitely stands in its own right and this is one RPG that we’re excited to go all in with. That being said, like many RPGs, there is a path players can choose: are you the hero, or are you the villain? This new launch trailer should help you decide:

While we knew choices would be a huge factor in the studio’s newest game, lead designer Charles Staples opened up a little bit more about how much of an impact those choices can have on the title’s ending.

“We are ending the game with end slides that say this is the outcome of the game based on your choices and actions,” said Staples in an interview earlier this year. “Based off of different things that you’ve done, it will have drastically different effects.”

There won’t be romances in-game, but there will be tons of NPCs that the player will need to “woo” in order to gain their loyalty. Bypassing quests too can totally offset the ending, so completion – at least to a certain extend – will be absolutely key.

The Outer Worlds officially makes its debut on October 25 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. For more about the exciting new adventure:

“In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.”
