The long-rumored Vikings Assassin’s Creed game is finally getting its reveal and it’s happening now with a livestream going on with Ubisoft and the renowned artist BossLogic. The livestream is a slow unfurllng of what the next Assassin’s Creed game will be but thus far, we now have the confirmation of a Viking setting with a glorious snowy landscape slowly unveiled.
For those unfamiliar with BossLogic, we’ve written about his incredible art several times in the past. This incredible artist knows how to create amazing art from scratch in addition to his wildly popular photo manipulations. His talent has scored some pretty amazing gigs through the years, including working with NetherRealm for Mortal Kombat, Marvel for the Avengers, Disney, and more. It looks like the art god can now add Ubisoft to his list of incredible contracts and honestly? We’re happy to see him thrive.
That being said, this is a very odd format to reveal the next Assassin’s Creed, especially given how well-received Odyssey was for taking the narrative risks it took. Fans loved the RPG elements, so to confirm the rumors with a slow-paced livestream art show is beautiful, don’t get us wrong, but odd marketing-wise since many just want to see what’s next and move on. At the very least it should have been pre-recorded and then fast-tracked as a nifty timelapse video so fans could see the end product while also taking part in its creation.
Regardless, we’re hearing that a bigger trailer could be going down next week from our sources with a series of art pieces going out today. We’re interested in seeing what other rumors Ubisoft is confirming to round out April, especially since there are so many! From having the option to choose your character like in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, to even more RPG aspects than ever before – there are some incredible leaks out there hinting at what’s next, it would be amazing to get some clarification on what it all means.
