On top of promising better communication with the community, Hell Games founder, Sean Murray, has also stated that they will be releasing a series of free updates for the game over the coming months, to help flesh it out even more. No Man’s Sky has received quite a bit of critical response since the game’s original release almost two years ago, and as we prepare to head into the NEXT age of the game—where multiplayer finally becomes a thing—many players and fans of the game’s original vision are excited to see where things with the space exploration game will end up.

In the blog post, the developers state “We know that a million gamers played on the day we launched Atlas Rises. That everyone who bought Atlas Rises played for 45 hours on average and 90% rated it positively. We know that 20% of players hit over 100 hours, and 5% hit over 1000. We know that over 200 million hours of No Man’s Sky have been played to date. It makes us happy, but desperate to communicate better.”

These aren’t numbers to scoff at and having better communication can definitely play a large role in how well the game does in the future. On top of the new content, players also have a Community season to look forward to in the future, as well as plenty of other great content which Sean Murray and the team at Hello Games have planned out. Of course, only time will tell what this content is, or how it will change the future of No Man’s Sky, so for now we’ll just patiently wait until we can all dive into No Man’s Sky NEXT and experience the beautiful world of No Man’s Sky as it was originally intended—with our friends at our side.
