Back in February when news of COVID-19 was starting to gain traction, the team over at Private Division and Obsidian Entertainment announced that The Outer Worlds Nintendo Switch release date needed to be pushed back and that they would provide an update at a later time. That later time is now because the new The Outer Worlds Nintendo Switch release date is now set for June 5.
The retail version of the game will be available both as a physical cartridge or as a digital download and will come with a day one patch to make sure that the title is ready to rock and roll when the opening credits scroll. The update itself will require 6GB of updated space, Private Division tells Prima Games.
Private Division, the publisher for Outer Worlds, took to their Twitter previously to announce the initial delay once news of COVID-19 continued to pour in. “We’re delaying [The Outer Worlds] on Nintendo Switch due to the coronavirus impacting the Virtuos team working on the port,” the Twitter post reads. They added, “to provide them enough time to finish development. We’ll now be releasing the physical version on cartridge. Once we have a new launch date, we’ll let you all know!”

For more about the game itself:
“In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds.
