OUYA Starts Kickstarter For Android-Supported Game System

Another home console? Looks that way!

We’ve got enough gaming consoles right now, along with “cloud gaming” services that literally let you game wherever you choose, without the need for additional software.  But do you know what we’re missing out on?  An Android-supported console that gives you access to hundreds of mobile games, all of which you can play on your television.  Well, that’s where OUYA comes in.

The company has begun a Kickstarter project to gain additional funding for its upcoming Android-based console, which will bring dozens of independent game titles and hit mobile releases to the television.  In addition, the console that’s being worked on here operates as a developer kit, so would-be game programmers can actually craft their own unique game experiences.

So far, so good.  The OUYA project has already achieved $450,000 of its $950,000 goal, and with 29 more days to go, it should easily reach this goal.  To learn more and see what kind of rewards the OUYA project has to offer, visit their official Kickstarter page.

We wish them the best of luck…and, um, can we get a unit for the office?
