Nintendo has aggressive plans for this holiday season that go beyond great looking games. If you want a 3DS XL or enjoy collecting different variants, check out these newly revealed handhelds set to debut over the next few months.
First we have the Super Smash Bros. 3DS XL that celebrates the portable version’s arrival October 3. The top panel features a cool sketchbook style featuring different charcters from the game, including Mario, Link and Pit. You can pick this up starting September 19. Unfortunately, it does not come with the game.
Next up is the drool-worthy NES model, designed to resemble the classic console. You’ll notice the artwork seems to go all around the box, with the iconic controller (the system itself) resting on top of the machine. Look for it October 10 at GameStop; yes it’s exclusive.
Finally, there’s the Persona Q Edition 3DS XL that arrives November 25, the same day as Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. This one’s a GameStop exclusive.
Each 3DS XL will retail for $199 and do not come with games. Personally, we’ve owned the NES GBA SP for years, and have our collective eye on the NES 3DS, which seems to be a perfect compliment to the older system.
What do you think of these new 3DS systems? Should Nintendo have bundled them with games?
