Capcom have revealed their plans to bundle what previously DLC-only for Resident Evil onto a special, physical disk of the game.
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be making its way to the 360 and PS3, but not the PC, Capcom says. The pack will feature the full game, two previously unseen episodes, eight new playable characters and a new multiplayer mode named The Mercenaries Reunion, which, would you believe, adds the Mercs mode to the game.
It will be released at the standard full price of $49.99 USD on 9th March in North America and 12th March in Europe.
PlayStation 3 owners will get the whole caboodle on a blu-ray disk while those with Xbox 360s will get the standard edition of the game with a download code for the extra content.
The add-ons will also be available separately in four downloads. To reiterate: that’s two episodes and two costume packs. Each of these also gives you an extra two characters in Mercenaries mode.
The game’s first extra episode features Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine going back to Ozwel E. Spencer’s mansion to find “new evil”. The add-on will be released along with Costume Pack 1 and should be out on 18th February.
The second episode, of which we currently know very little, will be brought out simultaneously with Costume Pack 2 on 3rd March on 360 and 4th March on PS3.
Famitsu [link] have reported that the episodes will cost 400 Microsoft points, with the costume packs costing 160 points each.
The press release from Capcom detailing all this unfortunately doesn’t mention anything about the Move controller, which is odd, as they demoed it with the game not very long ago at the Tokyo Game Show.
Keeping coming back to the game’s hub and we’ll keep you informed.
