Fans of Rhys from Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands were devastating when voice actor Troy Baker spoke out about how he wanted to be in Borderlands 3 to voice his character once more, but he was never asked. In response to the backlash, Gearbox issued their own version of the story, stating that they did invite him – and it just didn’t work out. Now Baker is setting the record straight once and for all, claiming that he was never invited in the first place. Have whip lash yet?
According to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, they countered Baker’s original claims by saying they had offered him a chance to reprise the role and that the voice actor turned it down. Following up, Baker sat down with Only SP to address Gearbox’s contradictory statement, saying “I said I would love to come back. They [Gearbox Software] said I’m not coming back.”
He added, “Their timeline tells an interesting story. I think it’s interesting that Randy Pitchford tweeted out that I turned it down, and then he said he heard that I turned it down. I would fact check before I tweeted out to the internet.”
So far, neither Pitchford or any other Gearbox representatives have responsed to the interview, though it does paint two very different recollections of what went down regarding the upcoming title.
Bright side? At least Ashly Burch is returning to play Tiny (not so tiny) Tina? Silver lining? Maybe? No?
