Sony Confirms Upcoming Twisted Metal TV Series

As part of the push for video game adaptations from PlayStation Productions, Twisted Metal is the first IP getting the TV show treatment.

Sony announced earlier this month their plan to expand upon videogame adaptations on the big screen with their ambitious PlayStation Productions initiative and now it looks like we’ve got our first IP getting the TV show treatment: Twisted Metal.

Though there have been reports floating around of a Twisted Metal TV series, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra confirmed the IP choice during an investors relations meeting this week. The confirmation came during a Q&A round, though Vinciquerra was mum on the details surrounding the upcoming show.

Right now, we don’t know if it’s going to be another live-action take or something animated – we don’t even know if it’s going to be an ongoing series or a one-shot wonder – but we do at least know it’s confirmed and possibly one of the big announcements that Sony has planned once E3 wraps up.

For those that may not know, Twisted Metal first got its start back in 1995 as a vehicular combat game rooted in mayhem. Though beloved, the IP has been stagnant since 2013, though perhaps the upcoming TV series will be enough of a push to garner interest for a brand new game.
