DC fans got their first look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League this weekend during DC FanDome and while there is a lot to unpack, the overall consensus about the reveal has been overwhelmingly positive! Plus; Shark. While many are still sifting through the new trailer, many have been wondering if it’s set in the same universe as the Arkham universe since it’s handled by the same studio. The answer? Yes.
Rocksteady Studios lead Sefton Hill recently confirmed during the fan event that Suicide Squad is, in fact, a “continuation of the Arkhamverse” that we were introduced to with Arkham Asylum. While not a true continuation like many expected, players will be able to see certain stories from the previous Batman games continue to unfold during the newest adventure on the way.
According to Hill, players will see “a lot of the threads and storylines you’re going to see come to fruition with this game,” so if you haven’t played through those yet, now might be a good time.
“The most dangerous villains in the DC Universe have been forced to team up and take on a new mission: Kill the Justice League,” reads the game’s debut trailer official description. “Create Chaos in Metropolis. You are the Suicide Squad.”
While the new game looks incredible for the next generation of consoles, we’ve got a little bit of a wait ahead of us before we can get our hands on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The next adventure up for the Arkham universe isn’t set to launch until the latter half of 2022.
