The Division has grown quite a bit since its originally release back in March of 2016, and now after two years of content Ubisoft has finally confirmed that a sequel to the game is indeed in the works. Rumors have been swirling for quite a bit now, especially after a German-language business site posted what looked to be a logo for the second game. In a State of the Game livestream for The Division, Julian Gerighty, the Creative Director at Ubisoft, finally confirmed the rumors.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but there are so many stories and so many experiences that we wanted to explore within the world of The Division that we felt a sequel was the best way to explore these things,” Gerighty stated in today’s livestream.
Mathias Karlson, the game director, added that “It’s an incredible opportunity to take all of that learning, all of that experience from what The Division is today and put it into a new game.”
More information on the upcoming sequel will be available at this years E3, when the game is officially revealed. According to Yannick Banchereau, the community manager for The Division, no other details—including release date, features, or anything about the game—will be revealed until E3, when they officially reveal the title.
Fans of The Division will be happy to hear this news, as well as the news that The Division will receive two more title updates, as well as some achievements that will allow players to unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it does release. For now, all we can do is wait. If you enjoy The Division, then you have something to look forward to, and we’ll be sure to keep you update with more information when it becomes available.
