Warner Bros. Games has officially acquired MultiVersus developers Player First Games. This news comes after the company released an official statement confirming the acquisition and its plan to move forward with the studio’s co-founders, Tony Huynh and Chris White, continuing their leadership at Player First Games under Warner Bros. Games.
In a press release, Tony Huynh expressed their sentiments about the acquisition and its benefit for the fighting game title. “Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall.” In addition, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad responded with excitement, stating, “..we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games.”
MultiVersus servers shut down unexpectedly in 2023 after Player First Games announced that the beta period was intended as a prolonged public test. After nine months of the game being unavailable, MultiVersus was relaunched in May 2024, returning with new content, characters, and technical prowess.
MultiVersus’s second season starts this week. It introduces a new ranked game mode and characters like Beetlejuice and Samurai Jack and debuts across all platforms on July 23, 2024, at 9 AM PT.
