Oh, trademarks. There is no getting around you. You help expose what a gaming company could be up to next!
In this case, Bethesda’s mega action/RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Just weeks after the release of Dawnguard (which is still coming to PSN by the way), the company has filed a new trademark, this time for a supposed second DLC pack by the name of Hearthfire.
In the description for the trademark, it indicates: “Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the Internet and wireless devices.” To sum up: DLC.
Now, the name Hearthfire will be familiar to fans, as that’s the name of the ninth month in the Elder Scrolls calendar. Obviously something is happening that month that will keep players on their toes.
Rumor has it that Hearthfire will focus on Necromancy, an art of reanimating the dead. Does that mean we’ll have to contend with zombies? Or for that matter, dead dragons that remember that you killed them? Talk about your nasty situations!
We’ll have more information on Hearthfire once it becomes official. Keep that sword handy.
