Dinosaurs don’t always need to be angry, flesh-eating creatures, especially if you’re quick to start taming them. Here are some of the best dinosaurs to tame early in your ARK: Survival Ascended journey.
Best Dinosaurs to Tame in ARK: Survival Ascended
Below, you’ll find my personal list of the best dinos to start taming early in the game, so you can get a great head start in your new world. While this list may be based on my own personal opinion, there are plenty of great options available.
The Rex
Arguably the most iconic dinosaur of all time, you’re going to want to get your hands on a Rex as quickly as possible if you’re hoping to survive. Since they are capable of dealing plenty of damage, having one on your side is going to be the difference between life and death in the world of ARK.
Ankylosaurus
If looks could kill, the Ankylosaurus would be a murderer. However, this isn’t a creature meant for combat; it’s meant for mining and resource gathering. If you’ve got a dire need for metals, then be sure to tame one of these creatures as fast as you can. They can hold their own in a fight, but pair it up with the Rex and you’re in business.
Snow Owl
While this may not look like your typical dinosaur, birds are the closest living relative to dinosaurs in our universe, so why not include this gorgeous creature on the list? Not only are its feathers mesmerizing to see in person (both first and third), but it’s also great at defending your village and yourself from possible attackers.
Stegosaurus
While they may not look as intimidating as some of their brethren, the Stegosaurus is a formidable fighter and can help you keep yourself defended from the biggest baddies around. Taming a Stegosaurus can show exactly what they’re made of, and they’re not afraid to let their wild side show. Try approaching one close in the wild and see why you need one of these on your team quickly.
Diplodocus
The Diplodocus is one of the best creatures to have for a variety of reasons. Not only is it a great form of transportation, but it can work well as a mobile tank of sorts. If you and your team hide out underneath the Diplodocus, you can avoid taking damage from other players and creatures. They’re a great dino to have, and one you should wrangle up fast.
Since there is such a massive variety of different creatures that you can tame, use this as a guideline to start your new adventure.
