Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a slight departure from the previous installment, Assassin’s Creed Unity. While Unity had a heavy multiplayer focus, Syndicate doesn’t feature any multiplayer options and instead has brought the series back to its glory days with a heighted story and single player action. Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, Syndicate started off slowly but has since picked up steam as word of mouth spread that the title was a return to form. The late PC release also gave the title a second breath.
With Black Friday and Christmas now behind us, we take a renewed look at Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for anyone who didn’t pick it up when the game first released on consoles. Here are a few beginner’s tips that should help you get into Syndicate, especially if it’s been awhile since you last played an Assassin’s Creed game.
Stay on Rooftops – Throughout the game you’ll have to travel across London, which can take some time. While it’s always possible to steal a carriage, if you want to avoid being detected by enemies, stay on the rooftops where it’s very difficult to get spotted.
Stun Harder Enemies – Depending on how many side missions you complete, you’ll probably come across enemies that are much higher level. Fear not, simply use the stun (PS4 – X, Xbox One – A) to stop them from attacking and interrupting your combos. Hit the stun button every few attacks to prevent higher level enemies from attacking you mid-combo.
Unlock Skills – You earn one skill point for each twin (two points total) every 1,000 experience points. Keep in mind this does not increase your level. You won’t level up until you spend a set number of skill points and learn new skills. In addition, you can unlock new skill options as you level up, so it may be more beneficial to pick up a skill you don’t need, just so you can level up and unlock a skill you really want.
Whistle For Kills – Whistling has been in Assassin’s Creed for some time now, but it’s very useful in Syndicate and shouldn’t be overlooked. Whistling is often the best way to get through a mission if you’re playing stealthily. Use it when you need to separate enemies and draw one around a corner so you can assassinate them without drawing attention from a crowd or other enemies.
