Battlefield 1 takes players back in time, to the first World War. Unlike previous games in the series, Battlefield 1 will drop players into several smaller stories as they progress through the campaign. One of these smaller stories has a hidden Calvary Sword within it, which players can use to unlock a special achievement. In this article we’ll be showing you how to find the Calvary sword, and how to earn the Mightier Than the Shovel achievement in Battlefield 1.
How to Unlock the Mightier Than the Shovel Achievement in Battlefield 1
Earning this achievement is actually fairly easy compared to some. While it might seem like it would be hard, we’re going to point out a few steps that, if followed, will point you in the right direction to help you find the sword, and use it to take out an enemy. Without wasting anymore time, let’s go ahead and dive right in.
The first step to completing this achievement is to launch Campaign 1: Through Mud and Blood. Start the mission, and play through it until you reach the Breakdown section of the mission. At this point you will be tasked with making your way to a French Village to look for parts to help fix your broken down tank. When you arrive at the village with the windmill overlooking it, take notice of the buildings around you. You’ll need to look for a two-story building with a mounted machine gun turret in its window. The window in question can be found just above the buildings corner doorway.
An easy way to find this building is to head down the main street of the village and look for a building that faces the massive windmill. Head inside the building to find the Calvary Sword hidden under a table on the first level of the structure. Unlike Calvary weapons in the multiplayer missions, there aren’t any horses around to help you run down your enemies. Instead, you’ll simply need to make your way around the map looking for an enemy that you can quickly shank with the sword. Once the enemy has been dispatched, you will earn the achievement. Battlefield 1 will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 21. Players who pre-purchase the Early Enlister Edition can play as early as October 18.
