Light machine guns are one of the most underrated and powerful classes within Modern Warfare 2, and aside from the RAAL MG, the RPK is in the running for the best in the category. LMGs may seem slow and unusable at times, but you’ll quickly see that they pack a massive punch and they have plenty of control.
What separates the RPK is the ability to cut down on some of the weight and retain the benefits of the Kastov assault rifles. In essence, this Kastov platform light machine gun is a harder-hitting 762 and it has tons of potential. This loadout guide will give you everything you need to utilize the weapon including the necessary attachments.
Modern Warfare 2 – Best RPK Loadout
Compared to the Kastov 762, this build is incredibly similar, but there are some small changes to account for the change in weight. We also have an optic on this loadout, but that can be swapped out for a different attachment if you like the iron sights. Every attachment can be found below.
- Receiver: RPK
- Muzzle: Polarfire-S
- Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
- Laser: Schlager PEQ Box IV
- Magazine: 40 Round Mag
- Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
We skip the barrel on this build entirely because the default option is already so good. Instead, we only need a good muzzle which is the Polarfire-S. Like the other suppressors in the game, this is used to enhance the damage range, recoil smoothness, and bullet velocity for the RPK. Add the Schlager PEQ Box IV laser to offset the weight.

To further bolster the accuracy and control of this LMG, we want the VX Pineapple underbarrel and the Cronen Mini Pro optic. Having the VX Pineapple is a major game changer for the RPK in terms of control, so it shouldn’t be skipped. But if you want a different optic, that is certainly up to your own preference.
The last attachment is the 40 Round Mag, and though it seems like a downgrade, it makes all the difference. While we lose some ammo capacity, we gain plenty of mobility and ADS speed while retaining 40 rounds per mag. It’s an easy deal to take for a reliable loadout in Modern Warfare 2.
