Dipplin is one of seven new Pokémon added to the Paldea Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, brought to the game with The Teal Mask DLC. But can Dipplin be Shiny? Here’s what you need to know about whether it’s Shiny locked or not.

Is Dipplin Shiny Locked in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask?

Dipplin is not Shiny locked, meaning that, yes, Shiny Dipplin is in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, Dipplin is one of the best Shiny Pokémon in the entire Paldea region, trading in its signature red for sparkling gold to become a literal caramel apple. I’m so obsessed.

How to Get Shiny Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

To get your hands on a Shiny Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must evolve a Shiny Applin by using the Syrupy Apple evolution item. There are three ways of obtaining a Shiny Applin:

  • Be lucky enough to catch one in the wild. Tagtree Thicket is a great location to hunt for one in the base game, or you can find Applin on trees in Apple Hill in The Teal Mask.
  • Hatch one from an Egg. This can take a long time, but the odds are increased if you do the Masuda Method using a foreign Ditto.
  • Trade for it with someone willing to part with a Shiny Applin. I’d recommend asking a friend or on forums like Reddit.

How to Get the Syrupy Apple in The Teal Mask in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

To find a Syrupy Apple in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask, head to the southeast portion of Mossfell Confluence, just past Reveler’s Road. Look for a small white building with a green roof, where you’ll find an unmanned vendor’s stall.

Tip:

The Syrupy Apple can only be obtained naturally in The Teal Mask DLC, meaning you’ll have to trade for a Pokémon that’s holding one if you don’t own the downloadable content if you want to evolve Dipplin yourself.

Walk up to it, and you’ll see Syrupy Apples on sale for 500 Pokédollars apiece. Once you’ve bought one, navigate to the Other Items section of your Bag, click on the Syrupy Apple, choose “Use this item,” and then select the Applin in your Party to evolve it into Dipplin.

Now that you’re the proud owner of a Shiny Dipplin, go ahead and take a cute selfie with it since Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s photo mode has been fixed. What’s the point in having a Shiny if you can’t show it off. Right?
