There’s only one Spotlight Hour left in the Pokémon GO Season of Light and the final honor goes to Hoothoot as the featured pick. Though the Owl Pokémon is an odd way to close out these hours with so much cosmic chaos happening, it’s a perfect opportunity to stack up on some candies.
Like every other Spotlight Hour, this is also the time where Trainers begin to question if the featured pick has a shiny form or not. It’s arguably one of the best opportunities to add to your shiny collection but not every week features the alternate color. We’ll go over whether Hoothoot can be shiny in Pokémon GO and when the Spotlight Hour itself begins.
Spotlight Hour – Can Hoothoot be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
In short, Hoothoot can be shiny in Pokémon GO and that means it’s the perfect week to try and get your hands on a rare owl. Each week, the Spotlight hour begins at 6 pm local time and runs until 7 pm local time. Not only is this hour the last scheduled one for November, but it will also close out the season we’re currently in. More are certainly on the way in the Mythical Wishes update though.

When the Spotlight Hour begins, Hoothoot will essentially be the only spawn you see in the wild aside from some rare occurences. There are plenty of chances to encounter a shiny Hoothoot, and the best news is that you don’t need to catch each one. Simply tap on the Owl Pokémon and you’ll see if the color changed right away. Niantic made encounters even faster, so this should be much easier.
As always, utilize your Incense Lures and your Lure Moduels to ensure that there are far more spawns during the hour in Pokémon GO. The spawns from those lures and a highly populated area could be the difference between a shiny and nothing found.
