How to Play Genshin Impact on Steam Deck? – Explained
We have great news for all Steam Deck enthusiasts. Even though officially, you cannot download Genshin Impact on your Steam Deck and play it (since the game is not released on Steam), it is possible to perform a workaround on your Steam Deck, but it’s gonna take a while for you to complete it. It involves purging the Steam OS from your Steam Deck and replacing it with a Windows 10 (for example). The steps are below:
- Make a bootable USB flash drive. There are a lot of free and open-source programs that do this, but we cannot advertise them within this article. You will need 8 GB minimum. Here is a guide from Microsoft.
- Once done, you need to put that USB flash drive into your Steam Deck. and then, hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously (at the same time) and Boot Manager will show up.
- Choose the USB flash drive with your Steam Deck controls.
- Reboot your Steam Deck, which will then start the installation of Windows. Do not worry if the screen aspect is strange, this is a subject to change afterwards within the Display Orientation settings.
- Proceed with the Windows Installation as usual.
- After the Windows is set up, download Genshin Impact and install it like you would on your PC.
- Run Genshin Impact and enjoy!
