Diablo 2 came out over two decades ago and won over the gaming industry. A year ago, we experienced the same game again, but enhanced as a remaster: Diablo II: Resurrected.
All the in-game mechanics remained the same, including placing and removing gems on your gear. Gems grant you a bunch of meaningful upgrades, and as you progress the story, you will find more of them, ultimately leading to wanting to replace old ones. So, how do you remove gems in Diablo 2: Resurrected?

How to Remove Gems in Diablo 2: Resurrected
If you wonder whether there is an option to remove gems in Diablo 2: Resurrected, the answer is yes. However, it is not that simple.
To remove gems from the sockets of your gear in Diablo 2: Resurrected, you will need to possess an item called Horadic Cube. It is unique and not obtainable that easily. You will only get it in Act 2 of the game.
How to Get Horadic Cube in Diablo 2: Resurrected
In Act Two, you will find yourself in a dungeon called Halls of the Dead in the Dry Hills. On the dungeon’s third level, you will find the Horadic Cube.
Once you have got your hands on this unique item, it is time to remove some gems.
To do so, place these three items inside the Horadic Cube;
- Hel RuneĀ
- Town Portal Scroll
- The item with the gem you want to get rid of
Click on the ‘Transmute’ button to pull the gems out. The gems that you have removed are deleted for good. Luckily, the Diablo 2: Resurrected world is filled with gems to collect so finding new ones won’t be a problem.
