Can Zorua and Zoroark be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Both Zorua and Zoroark can be shiny in Pokémon GO. The shiny colorations for both of these Pokémon were added to Pokémon GO on October 26, 2023.
How to Find Shiny Zorua in Pokémon GO
Zorua is a rare wild encounter in Pokémon GO. It’s a transforming Pokémon similar to Ditto. When you encounter Zorua in the wild, it will appear exactly like your Buddy Pokémon.
After you catch the Pokémon, it will revert back into Zorua. Once it reverts back into its normal form, it will show its true colors, literally, and you’ll be able to see if it’s shiny or not.
Note that you do not need your Buddy to be fed and on the map for Zorua to spawn. Zorua will still appear, disguised as your Buddy Pokémon, even if your Buddy isn’t on the map.
How to Tell if a Wild Pokémon is Actually Zorua Before Catching It
Because Zorua copies your Buddy Pokémon exactly, it’s recommended to have a shiny Buddy Pokémon to distinguish if a wild Pokémon is or isn’t Zorua ahead of time. Normally, Pokémon do not appear as shiny in the overworld, even if they turn out to be shiny when you enter an encounter with them. So if you see a shiny-colored Pokémon on the map, just like your Buddy Pokémon, you’ll know it’s actually a Zorua before even catching it.
It’s important to note that your Buddy Pokémon’s shininess, or lack thereof, has no effect on the wild Zorua’s coloration. Whether or not the wild Zorua is shiny is random, regardless of your chosen Buddy Pokémon.
How to Get Shiny Zoroark in Pokémon GO
To get shiny Zoroark in Pokémon GO, you need to evolve a shiny Zorua by using 50 Zorua Candy on it.
Zorua is typically a rare encounter in Pokémon GO. Use the above tip to help tell when a wild Pokémon is actually a Zorua, then use a Pinap Berry on it when you encounter one. Pinap Berries give you more Pokémon Candy when a Pokémon is caught. Use them to get more Zorua Candies faster so you can evolve yours into a Zoroark.
