Chocobo Breeding has always been a matter of deep intrigue among Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players ever since the game’s launch. After all, who wouldn’t love to have their own special types of Chocobos running around and accompanying them on their journeys? While you can customize your fluffy buddies, does FF7 Rebirth include Chocobo Breeding as well?
Is Chocobo Breeding Possible in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Unfortunately, you can’t breed these creatures as of writing, and it’s highly unlikely to change. In fact, this was confirmed by Director Naoki Hamaguchi in an earlier interview. While the early months of 2024 in the world of gaming have seen a lot of breeding (thanks to Palworld), there’s no such system in place in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that these birds won’t be of any use to you. If anything, the absence of Chocobo breeding is well supplemented by how useful the creatures are as you progress on your quests. Certain areas on the map are inaccessible under normal circumstances, but the Chocobos will help you to reach them.
Are Chocobos Customizable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
There might not be any Chocobo breeding in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but you could race them across different courses. You can also customize them with unique equipment which will act as stats modifiers. There are different courses you can challenge with your birdie pals.
It’s a change from the past as far as these curious creatures are concerned. However, traveling with the Chocobos is certainly key to exploration, and then there are the races where you could end up sinking plenty of hours, if not more.
In some ways, this change could be a bit sad for many passionate fans. That said, Chocobo breeding often used to get quite tedious, and that’s something Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has certainly avoided.
