Final Fantasy XVI arrives on June 22 for PlayStation 5 as the first mainline game in Square Enix’s legendary RPG series since 2015. However, all fans already have the opportunity to try a good part of the introduction to the game through a completely free demo that has been released on the PlayStation Store.
With the demo playable for several hours, the question arises whether it will be possible to transfer save files to the full version of the game – as has been the case with many other Square Enix titles recently. So, let’s find out if save progress transfers from the FFXVI demo to the final version of the game.
Can You Transfer Save Data From FFXVI Demo to the Full Version?
Well, the answer is yes and no. The Final Fantasy XVI Demo is split into two parts; the first one is an introduction to the game, where you will watch long cinematics and get to know the main characters and the world, as well as go through all the tutorials for the basic mechanics in the game. The second part of the demo is placed a bit later in the game and serves as a showcase of later-game dungeon-crawling content.

Now, you can only make a transferable save file in the first part of the demo, while the second part is there just for, well… demonstration. However, as the first part of the demo can be played for several hours, the save file you create there will be able to load in the complete version of Final Fantasy XVI once it’s out, and will save you from watching long introductory animations again and playing the tutorials that you have already mastered in the demo – which is very neat.
