We’ve already talked about what’s new in Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 4, and an alternate ending isn’t one of the things in the list. Of course, that hasn’t stopped people from talking, and in the past there have even been rumors of an alternate ending—or even a series of endings—that players could unlock. But is it real?
Is There an Alternate Ending?
The short answer here is no. There isn’t any type of alternate ending in Shadow of the Colossus. Bluehole, the developers responsible for the PlayStation 4 remaster of the game had a chance to add in their own takes, but they wanted to keep the game as true to the original as they possibly could. Of course, some things along the way have changed—including some hidden collectibles—but all in all it’s still very much the same game that was originally released by the team on the PlayStation 2.
This indeed means that players can expect the content from the game to be exactly what it was before. There’s no new content, no new bosses, and no big changes. We covered all of this in the article that we linked above, so make sure you check it out for more information about the topic.
