The Island Sanctuary in Final Fantasy XIV received a handful of updates and additional content with the most recent 6.3 patch, including new materials to collect, landmarks to construct, and best of all, new animals to catch. One such critter you may see roaming around is the Morbol Seedling, though they only like to come out in the early morning when the weather’s just right. If you’re in the market for one of your own, continue reading to learn how to catch a Morbol Seedling in Final Fantasy XIV’s Island Sanctuary.

Capturing Animals in FFXIV Island Sanctuary
Special restraints are necessary to capture animals around the isle and, depending on the size of your desired catch, you’ll need an appropriately-sized restraint to do the trick. The Morbol Seedling is considered a Small animal, so the basic Makeshift Net is all you need for a chance to bring one home. The Island Sanctuary tutorial guides you on how to craft the net, but in case you need more, gather up these materials:
- 1 Island Branch
- 2 Island Vine
After crafting the Makeshift Net, switch to Capture mode and select it as your tool.
Capturing the Morbol Seedling – Time, Weather, and Location
As stated earlier, the Morbol Seedling only roams around when all the right conditions are in place. Whereas most rare spawns appear during certain weather patterns, and others during certain times of the day, the Morbol Seedling is only seen when both the time and weather are just right. Essentially, this means that you may only get a few attempts per day to even see the little guy out in the wild.
To find the Morbol Seedling, head to the northwestern area of The Wilds region around the (X: 19, Y: 19) coordinates between the hours of 3 AM to 6 AM Eorzean Time during the “Clouds” weather pattern. You can check the current weather by hovering over the small icon attached to your minimap.
If you spot the Morbol Seedling, approach them from behind and use the Makeshift Net to attempt a catch. You’re never guaranteed to catch an animal, so it may take a few tries before you’re successful. However, once you’ve successfully snagged them, the Morbol Seedling will automatically be sent back to your pasture in your Island Sanctuary, bouncing around with your other captured animals. Make sure to keep them well-fed and happy, and they’ll reward you by dropping Sanctuary Carapace leavings once per day.
