The new Island Sanctuary feature has the Final Fantasy XIV player base hooked as Warriors of Light are taking a much needed break from their extravagant adventures for a little rest and relaxation. Well, not so much rest.. and maybe not much relaxation either. Island Sanctuary has players gathering, crafting, constructing, cultivating, and capturing animals to turn their newly-owned private islands into hubs for exporting goods. Roaming around your island are various small and large animals that hang out in designated pockets together as they graze the fields and drink from the natural rivers, eagerly awaiting to be captured and domesticated in your pasture! If you’re just getting started on your farm, the Lost Lamb is a perfect starting animal for you to train and tend to. Here’s how to catch a Sheep (Lost Lamb) in FFXIV’s Island Sanctuary.

Capturing Animals in FFXIV Island Sanctuary
Don’t expect to bring home any wild animals if you’ve got nothing to capture them with. To catch a Sheep, you’ll need to craft yourself a Makeshift Net and, fortunately, you’re taught how to do so through the Island Sanctuary tutorial stages. If you skimmed through that part and forgot, or need a refresher on the materials needed to craft more, grab yourself the following:
- 1 Island Branch
- 2 Island Vine
After crafting a Makeshift Net, you’ll be ready to take some animals home. Switch to Capture mode and select the net as your restraint of choice.
Capturing the Lost Lamb – Location
The Lost Lamb is located right outside of the entrance to your Island Sanctuary. Simply walk out into the open fields and head northeast towards the (X: 20, Y: 23) coordinates to find Lost Lamb frolicking around in packs. Neither the time of day or weather will affect the chances of these critters being there as they’re very common around the isle.
Approach the Lost Lamb and use the Makeshift Net on them to attempt a catch. If successful, your new Lost Lamb pal will be waiting for you back at your pasture. At this point, you can tend to the Lost Lamb’s needs, making sure they’re well fed and happy, and they’ll return the favor by dropping “Leavings” for you to collect once a day.
