It’s finally time to enjoy FFXVI. After all that time waiting and downloading extra patches, you can finally enjoy this next-gen RPG to its fullest. You boot up the game and… it isn’t happening. You’re met with an error message saying “CE-1082555-1: An error occurred in the application”. What is happening here?
Well, be glad that you’re not the only one having this issue, and there’s already an official solution for this problem. But it might not be a pleasant one, sadly. Here’s how to fix Error CE-108255-1 in Final Fantasy XVI.
How to Solve the CE-108255-1 Error in FFXVI
The error is related to the game’s installation, so the first step is to check if both your PS5 and the game are updated. FFXVI had a small pre-release patch which isn’t required to play the game, but we’d recommend you download that one just to be safe. But if the issue persists, this means you’ll need to delete the game from your Storage and install it again. You have my condolences, my fellow slow internet-havers.
After that, make sure to start your PS5 on Safe Mode and select Rebuild Database before relaunching the game. Your problems should be fixed by now. But if they aren’t, your last resort is to reset your whole console installation through Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options > Reset Your Console. Don’t forget to back up your data!

This should be a last-ditch effort, and hopefully, the issue will be gone after first reinstalling the game. But if you have to reset your PS5 after all, the game should launch as normal as soon as you install Final Fantasy XVI for one last time.
The CE-108255-1 issue could happen with any game, but people have reportedly been experiencing this with FFXVI since its demo. I sincerely hope you don’t have to go through these extra steps, but if you do, good luck with the downloads.
