Get Ready to Test Your Strength When Boss Rush Comes to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

You'll also be able to dress up for the occasion!

You would think nobody would really need to touch Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at this point, considering its official Game of the Year status and all. But that doesn’t mean FromSoftware and Activision aren’t going to do it anyway. On October 29, 2020 a new update is coming to the famously unforgiving action game, including a Sekiro boss rush challenge that’s split into two different kinds of challenges. Also if you’re feeling squirrely, the One-armed Wolf will be able to dress up in different outfits.

Sekiro Boss Rush – October 29 Free Update Details

The upcoming Sekiro boss rush feature, which is coming as the marquee part of a free update, comes in two forms. You’ll be able to access either challenge at any Sculptor’s Idols in the game, where you’ll have the option to choose Reflections of Strength or Gauntlets of Strength.

From what we can gather from the details available so far, Reflections of Strength will be the practice option which allows you to set up a rematch with any of the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice boss fights. You’ll be able to access a fight for any previously-defeated boss, implying this feature will be available from the jump.

On the other hand, Gauntlets of Strength will be a whole other beast for the Wolf to challenge. Activision describes this mode as “single-life challenges that will truly test only the bravest warriors… or the most foolish.” The Wolf will not be able to come back from a loss during these challenges, and will have to start from scratch if he dies. It’s unclear for now if this is a single Sekiro boss rush challenge, or if there are multiple sets of gauntlets, but it seems to be the latter.

Finishing these challenges will also lead to one of the update’s other new features, new outfits players will be able to swap between at Sculptor’s Idols. Three outfits will be added with this update, two of which have been identified as “Tengu,” and “Old Ashina Shinobi” One of the three outfits will be available upon completing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, while the other two are Guantlets of Reflection rewards.

Are you stoked for a new excuse to dive back into Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice? Does a new Sekiro boss rush feature sound like a living nightmare? Are you brave enough to try Sekiro on Stadia when it launches on the same day? Let us know your thoughts over at the Prima Games Facebook and Twitter channels!
