Sinister Cloth is one of the rarer items that you’ll come across during your time in Monster Hunter: World, and while the item can appear randomly throughout the world, you won’t actually be able to carve it off of any monster corpses, instead you’ll need to jump through a few more hoops if you want to be able to find Sinister Cloth and farm for this rare material.
How to Find Sinister Cloth
Unlike the majority of items that you can carve out of monster’s corpses in Monster Hunter: World, Sinister Cloth will take a bit more to get your hands on. In fact, you’ll won’t even be able to get this item by exploring difficult end game areas like the Elder’s Recess, or in any of the other levels and areas in the game. Instead, you’ll have to rely solely on the Tailrider Safari to get your hands on this rare item.
In order to start using the Tailrider Safari, you’ll need to head back to Astera and make your way to your personal sleeping quarters. Once here, talk to the Housekeeper and choose the Tailrider Safari option. This should give you a list of different safaris that you can send your Palicos out on. Choose the safari you want to kick off, and then select a region of the world in Monster Hunter: World to send them out and into the thick of things.
Now you’ll need to choose what kind of tasks you want your Palico to complete while out in the world. You can choose any of these different tasks—from Gathering to Research, or even to basic Hunting tasks—to send your Palico out on. It doesn’t matter which one you choose, as you can obtain Sinister Cloth from any of them.
The bad thing here, though, is that you aren’t guaranteed to get Sinister Cloth as a drop. In fact, it’s still going to be very rare that you get your hands on this item, which is probably why it isn’t needed in too many crafting recipes found throughout the game. You will need to gather up five of these items if you want to craft the Death Stench Armor, though, which is available as a High Rank armor in the Smithy.
