The Trials of Mana remake is here and it’s taking us way back to a simpler time filled with magic and epic quests. For those looking to dive right into the JRGP that fueled a generation, some may be wondering how long does it take to beat Trials of Mana, lucky for you that we have an answer.
How long does it take to beat Trials of Mana?
For those that have played the original, there are a few things you should know outside of the obvious graphic updates. The Trials of Mana remake has a ton of new content for players to enjoy, more than double of that seen in Adventures of Mana that came out back in 2016. So how long does it take to beat? There are a few variables.
For those that soak in every quest, every dialogue feature, and take in the sights, the most recent Trials of Mana remake is sitting at about 30 hours, give or take. For those that speed right on through, like myself, you’re looking at about 18-20 hours but in my defense, I played quite a bit of it during previous press demos and was (don’t hate me) not the biggest fan of the original and the combat in this remake drove me up the wall. That being said, many are loving this nostalgic play, so it makes sense that some would want to take their time and soak in every minute detail.
In terms of why we didn’t quite feel the appeal of the Trials of Mana Remake, the combat was incredibly clunky and wasn’t always the most responsive. It’s interesting too because the combat seems very divisive. The ones that didn’t care for it really didn’t care for it while other players are hailing its combat experience. The power of subjective thinking, it just goes to show how many different ways there are to perceive a game when playing. What may be a deal-breaker for some can be the reason for unfiltered love for others.
The general mechanics of the game also seemed almost delayed in terms of reaction, which is something that I personally can’t see past if it reaches a certain point and that definitely broke the nostalgic immersive experience. That being said, there are plenty of amazing things to say about Trials, including the graphic overhaul and the audio stylings that the team did when bringing this adventure into the current generations of gaming. It’s also a great way for gamers to jump into the Trials of Mana franchise if they haven’t already.
