One of the new endgame systems introduced in Season 4 of Diablo 4 is called The Pit of the Artificers, a time-trial dungeon like the Rifts from Diablo 3. Here is how to access The Pit of the Artificers in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 Season 4 The Pit of the Artificers Location
The Pit of the Artificers is located in the town of Cerrigar within the Scosglen region during Season 4 in Diablo 4. It is the obelisk structure near the waypoint in the middle of the town.
The pillar will be inactive for players until they reach World Tier 4: Torment. Once the tier is available, players will instantly receive a quest to unlock it.
Players will then have to complete a Tier 45 Nightmare Dungeon to unlock The Pit of the Artificers. It does not require a specific dungeon, only that it is at least Tier 45.
How to Access The Pit of the Artificers in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 players can access The Pit of the Artificers by spending Runeshard to open the portal from the pillar in Cerrigar. Only one person in the party needs to spend the Runeshard, but that player will get more Masterworking materials and Stygian Stones upon completion.
The rest of the party will receive fewer Masterworking materials and no Stygian Stones. Masterworking materials can include Ingolith, Neathiron, and Obducite. The Stygian Stones are necessary to summon Torment versions of bosses, including the new Andariel endgame boss.
Runeshards can be earned by completing various activities including Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, public events, and World Bosses. However, the resource will not be available until players fully unlock The Pit from the quest.
Once in, players have 10 minutes to defeat enough monsters to trigger a boss enemy and defeat it. There are 200 tiers in The Pit of the Artificers, starting with level 100 enemies at Tier 1.
Players will have to beat the tier with four to six minutes left to unlock the next tier while having more than six minutes left will unlock the next two tiers. Dying in The pit will subtract 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and then 90 seconds for each additional death.
