Sanctuary is a vast place, and yet there are certain characters, both minor and major, that you’ll meet again and again. That’s certainly the case for Mahjoob, who refused to guide you through the desert during the main quest. But now he’s in quite the pickle… and the only cure is a beating. Here’s how to Beat Mahjoob in Diablo 4.
How to Beat Mahjoob in Diablo 4
Mahjoob is at the center of a chain of quests in Kehjistan, and none of them are good. An infection in his arm has grown steadily worse, and it culminates in him attacking you. Which would be fine if this quest wasn’t horrendously bugged.
Mahjoob has three traits as an Elite: Summoner, Plaguebearer, Vampiric. But he’s unique to most Elite Skittering Abominations in both his move sets and how ridiculously overtuned his healing is.
As a Skittering Abomination, Mahjoob moves slowly and focuses primarily on attacks that will push you back or force you away. This will briefly stun you. His poison ability is essentially a gatling gun, which shoots in a circle. It usually follows a successful pushback attack.

But what causes people the most trouble is his Vampiric ability. The Vampire ability allows Mahjoob to recover health when he touches you. You’ll know he’s about to use this ability when you hear a gong and he gains a red aura.
Unfortunately, Mahjoob can suck the life out of you from a distance. And when used in combination with his pushback-stagger combo, it means he’s exceedingly difficult to whittle away. There are a few methods to stop this, however.
- Crowd control abilities.
- Use the well.
- Change the World Tier.

When Mahjoob gains the red aura that shows he’s about to use his Vampire ability, use your Crowd Control ability. Frost Nova on Sorcerer, Smoke Grenades on Rogue, or just Immobilize on Barbarian and Druid will all have great effect, as it will disrupt Mahjoob’s vampiric state.
You can also avoid the long-range suck by utilizing the well in the first room near the stairs of the dungeon. Because Mahjoob is quite slow, you can use it as cover in a pinch.
If all else fails, and you’re tired of losing to this rotten human bug, you can just change the World Tier. Bursting Mahjoob down after half a dozen failed attempts at killing him is its own brand of satisfaction.
Mahjoob and his series of quests aren’t the only thing in Kehjistan. If you’re trying to get all the renown in this fly-infested desert, here’s one of the harder side quests you’ll need to tackle: The Pilgrim’s Footsteps Diablo 4 Quest Guide – Journey Solution.
