When you reach the end of the Season of the Construct story in Diablo 4, you’ll have to take on Malphas, Keeper of the Vaults more than a few times. This guide will explain how you can easily take down the massive construct and claim your rewards.
How to Defeat Malphas in Diablo 4
To beat Malphas, you need to dodge any of the traps that appear on the ground and destroy the four conduits that appear in the arena. The boss itself is immobile, which is a first for a fight like this in Diablo 4, and that comes with its own benefits. As long as you can stay mobile, the arena is yours to use against the construct.
During the battle, Malphas can switch between four different elements depending on the phase. He uses the same exact elements you would find from obelisks in Arcane Tremors or Vaults: poison, ice, fire, and red lightning. There is a conduit that can be destroyed in each corner of the arena when the element switches.
Tips for Beating Malphas in Diablo 4:
- Stay mobile and ensure you have decent movement speed.
- Destroy any Conduit pillars that appear in one of four corners.
- Circle around Malphas as he throws traps your way.
- Slow or immobile builds aren’t recommended for maximum rewards.
Of course, each element has completely different mechanics as well. For example, when Malphas switches to ice, he will freeze certain quarters of the arena that need to be dodged. Then he can switch to poison and start leaving lethal pools of green on the ground. This battle is all about staying on the moving and watching out for traps.
Rewards for Defeating Malphas in Diablo 4
When you beat Malphas, you gain access to much better Wardwoven Chests when compared to the standard Vaults. There is a minor version and a greater version of these chests that lead to better Governing or Tuning Stones. However, you still need to maintain the Zoltun’s Warding stacks to open the best chest.
Retaining those stacks means you want to use at least a few Pearls of Warding before reaching the fight. Even with a large chunk of stacks, there is even more reason to stay mobile if you want the maximum rewards.
If you want an even tougher challenge, stay on the lookout for the Echo of Malphas in World Tier 4 of Diablo 4.
