If, for one reason or another, you want to change the appearance of your furry friend in Monster Hunter World, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is, you can change their look – the bad news is you can’t change their appearance (for free).
How to Change Your Palico’s Appearance
If you want to change the way your Palico physically looks, i.e. fur color, ears, eyes, etc, you have to buy a $2.99, single-use Edit Voucher. These are available as DLC on your platform of choice. Don’t shoot the messenger, I think this is just as ridiculous as you do.
Unfortunately, even the amazing teams over at Capcom aren’t immune the microtransaction hellscape we currently live in. But fret not, because there are tons of other ways to make your Palico a little more “you.”
How to “Change” Your Palico’s Appearance (For Free)
The obvious workaround in making your Palico look different, even if their appearance hasn’t changed, is to cover them up in copious amounts of armor. Monster Hunter: World features dozens and dozens of Palico armor sets, some of which completely alter the way your fluffy friend looks.
Since Palico armor isn’t quite as important as your own, feel free to experiment with some flashier sets that have less-than-perfect stats for a little boost to your fashion. Monster Hunter World, unlike Rise, doesn’t feature Palico layered armor, meaning whatever your Palico is wearing is what you’re going to see.
Lastly, be sure to check out the Event Quests at the Quest Board. These feature special tickets, like the Megaman Tickets, that can be redeemed for sets that totally change your Palico into something else (in this case, Megaman).
Monster Hunter: World doesn’t feature all the niceties we’ve become accustomed to in the more recent Monster Hunter Rise, but the recent “Return to World” event, heralded by Capcom themselves, has caused a huge resurgence in player count and interest. Hopefully revisiting the lands of the New World tides us over until next year’s release of Monster Hunter Wilds.
