I’ve been plucking along in Pokémon Scarlet since last Friday, while the rest of my coworkers have been power gaming through like a bunch of speed runners. Today I ran into the whole sandwich and picnic gimmick, which I have only scratched the surface of. And here at Prima we have a thing where if someone has to ask a question, that means a new guide has been born. So it’s entirely my fault we’re here talking about how to check your Meal Powers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The thing I’ve learned about this game so far is that information is stored in its menus about as well as I store information in my head. After learning how to make sandwiches, what they actually do and how to get the stuff I need for them, I realized I couldn’t figure out where my current Meal Powers were displayed, if anywhere. Of course it was in the last place I looked.

To view your active Meal Powers you need to press “right” on the d-pad. This opens up the “Notices” menu, which seems to be a quick look at information on things that can change quickly. So you’ll also see things like a TM machine recipe if you’re tracking one, or your current Meal Powers and how long you have left with them. If there’s other kinds of information that show up there, I haven’t seen it yet.
Hopefully this little guide was helpful in reminding you that in addition to pressing X to look at the game menu and Minus to open up the Pokédex, Map and Profile views, you also have information you can access with the d-pad. That little thing is good for something besides accessing the camera, turns out.
