If you see that the Moon you intend to land on has a Storm as a weather condition, I highly advise you to choose a different Moon because a Storm can be pretty dangerous to the lives of the crewmates on your ship. Storm often produces lightning strikes to which the players are not immune, but there is a way to not get struck by Lightning in Lethal Company and save your life. Remember, we do not want you to get fined by the Lethal Company.
How to Not Get Struck by Lightning in Lethal Company
Lightning strikes at players who carry metal items. If you have a metal item on you, you will be warned before the lightning strike, which will give you a small window of time for you to ditch the item(s) from your inventory (G is the default “drop item” button) and run as far as you can.
The warning sign you are looking for is the feign crackling of static in your headphones. Sometimes, the item might visually show sparks. And, in the right part of your screen, you might get warned that a strike is imminent and that you must drop all metallic items because you have “seconds to live.”

How to Carry Metal Items in Lethal Company During Lightning Storm
Lightning can strike pretty often, sometimes with just under 10 seconds between two strikes, so once you get a hint that you might become toasted, ditch the metallic items and pick them up after the lightning strike has passed. This will consume a lot of your time, so take this into account when calculating when you should go back to the ship with the scrap you’ve collected.
If you do not want to go to a stormy Moon again, use the Terminal commands to investigate your vacation (ahem, workation, despite it being an alien safari basically) destination before your space travel.
