With Splatoon 3 releasing early next month, series fans (myself included) can’t wait to get their hands on the game. Luckily, Nintendo is giving everyone a sneak peek with the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere Demo. Better yet, you’ll be able to play it this week and there are even several ways you can download it.
Download Splatoon 3 via Switch eShop
The first method to download the demo is through the Switch itself. While connected to the internet, visit the eShop from the Switch’s home menu. From there, you can either search for the demo directly by typing “Splatoon 3” into the search bar or by going to the “Featured” tab on the left side of the screen. The Splatfest demo will be one of the first games to show up as of this writing. Select the demo and hit the “Free Pre-Order” button to your right. The eShop will take you to another screen where you confirm you wish to download the demo and it will begin doing so shortly after.
Download Splatoon 3 Through a Web Browser
Alternatively, you can download the Splatoon 3 demo online through a web browser. If you visit Nintendo’s official page for the game, scroll down and there will be a link saying “Download the demo now.” This will take you to another page asking you to log into your Nintendo account. After doing so, there will be a button to download the demo. Selecting that will confirm everything and the download will begin once your Switch is connected to the internet.

The Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere Demo officially begins on August 27 and will have you playing for Team Rock, Team Scissors, or Team Paper during the event. However, it should be noted Nintendo’s official website also says certain parts of the demo will be playable on August 25. This includes a tutorial and access to Splatsville, the game’s main hub area.
