Pokemon Scarlet and Violet rolled in with four hundred new Pokemon, with one hundred and seven of these being new additions to the Pokemon series. But one particular Pokemon line drew more attention than others: Frigibax and its family.
Frigibax, and its ultimate end stage, Baxcalibur, is the pseudo-legendary Pokemon of Generation IX, and there’s a reason why it’s often seen in a trainer’s lineup. Its dual Ice and Dragon typing gives Baxcalibur the offensive potential of ice and the neutral coverage Dragon offers. But actually obtaining this Godzilla knockoff can be difficult.
How to Evolve Arctibax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Before you can get to Baxcalibur, you’ll need to evolve Arctibax, the second stage of the Ice Dragon’s line. Many evolutions in the Paldea Region require trainers to jump through a series of hoops to see their Pokemon evolve, from going on long, tedious walks with their Pokemon to needing a friend (or total stranger) to witness your Pokemon fight and level up.

Fortunately, Arctibax doesn’t require that much effort. Instead, what it demands of you is time. Arctibax, like many dragon pseudo legendaries, has a high-level threshold of evolving. To evolve it, you’ll need to level Articbax to level 54. That is one level less than what Dragonair requires to evolve into Dragonite (the original pseudo-Dragon legendary), four more levels than Shelgon, and six more than Gabite.
But isn’t it worth it to get Baxcalibur?

If your answer to that question is no, never fear. You don’t have to grind out levels or use up all of your EXP candy to evolve your Arctibax. You can instead wait to see if it spawns in a 5 or 6-Star Tera Raid. The likelihood of this is low, but keep checking the Poke Portal, and maybe you’ll get lucky.
