A new Final Fantasy XIV expansion is upon us, as Dawntrail has officially launched into early access for all pre-order players. With a new expansion comes a new set of Allagan Tomestones to collect, meaning the previous set of Tomestones are now out of commission. If you have Allagan Tomestones of Causality and Comedy leftover, here’s how to exchange those discontinued Tomestones in FFXIV: Dawntrail.
How to Trade Allagan Tomestones of Causality and Comedy for Poetics in FFXIV: Dawntrail
To exchange your discontinued Tomestones of Causality and Comedy into Poetics, you’ll need to speak with Auriana in Mor Dhona (X: 22.7, Y:6.7). After speaking with her, select the Exchange Previous Tomestones option, and you’ll then be able to choose between exchanging Causality and Comedy Tomestones for Poetics at a 2:1 ratio.
For example, if you trade 1,000 Tomestones of Causality, you will receive 500 Tomestones of Poetics. It’s worth noting that you can only carry a maximum of 2,000 total Tomestones of Poetics at any time, so make sure you have room to carry more if you plan on using the exchange service.
To check your available currencies, you can click the Gil icon next to the amount of Gil you have on your screen. Alternatively, you can open the Character main menu button and select Currencies.
What are Allagan Tomestones of Poetics Used for in FFXIV: Dawntrail?
Allagan Tomestones of Poetics have been around for a long time, and are the default Tomestones to use for buying older gear and materials. If you’re looking to buy gear for your under-geared jobs, like the new Viper or Pictomancer, you can spend your Tomestones of Poetics at the following NPCs:
- Auriana in Mor Dhona (X:22.7, Y:6.7) – Level 50 Ironworks Armor
- Hismena in Idyllshire (X:5.8, Y:5.3) – Level 60 Shire Armor
- Enna in Rhalgr’s Reach (X: 13.8, Y:11.6) – Level 70 Scaevan Armor
- Aymark in Eulmore (X:10.2, Y:11.8) – Level 80 Cryptlurker Armor
- Cihanti in Radz-at-Han (X:10.8, Y:10.4) – Level 90 Credendum Armor
Tomestones of Poetics can also be used to buy a large variety of crafting materials, items needed for Relic weapons, Orchestrion Rolls, and more.
