Dead Island 2, the long-awaited zombie horror RPG sequel, is set to launch on April 21, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Similarly to the first game in the series, Dead Island features fast travel in order to quickly navigate the game’s locations, but can easily be missed if you do not pay close attention to the on-screen tutorials. Here is everything you need to know about fast travel in Dead Island 2.
Fast Travel in Dead Island 2 Explained
Just like 2011’s Dead Island, fast travel is completed using maps in Dead Island 2. However, unlike the first game, fast travel does not unlock until you are over halfway through the game’s 24-mission campaign. After completing “The Red Mist” at the beginning of the game’s fifteenth story mission, “The Giant Slayer,” you will finally be able to fast travel when your Slayer reaches the Blue Crab Grill.
Fast travel maps are found in the safe locations of the game’s ten California settings. By interacting with the map, you can initiate fast travel to one of the other safe locations in the game.

How Does Fast Travel Work in Dead Island 2
Opening the fast travel map will show your player’s current location, as well as the places where story and side missions can be found. Unfortunately, you can’t simply fast travel from anywhere at any time, as you must locate a map first. Using the game’s fast travel mechanics will only allow you to teleport to corresponding fast travel maps; you can’t fast travel to any location in the game.
