Escape From Tarkov features a handful of boss-type enemies that, at first glance, appear unkillable—like a hurricane sweeping through their respective maps to wipe the floor of any PMCs in the vicinity. But you can fight back. Here’s how to find and beat Kollontay in Escape From Tarkov.
Where to Find Kollontay in Escape From Tarkov
I still fondly remember when Battlestate introduced Killa to the game. Now we have ten times as many bosses in Escape From Tarkov. One of the most recent, and perhaps one of the toughest currently in the game, is Kollontay. He’s a well-armored and armed Scav that you can stumble into on Streets of Tarkov and Ground Zero. I’ve had more luck finding and fighting him on the former rather than the latter, though.
On Streets of Tarkov, he’ll spawn at one of two locations: Klimov Shopping Mall or The Ministry of the Interior Academy. Again, I’ve had more luck finding him at the former.
As Streets of Tarkov is one of the largest maps in the game, tracking down a single man proves challenging. It can take a few rounds before he even spawns, and then you still must beat the rest of the lobby to his position.
How to Beat Kollontay in Escape From Tarkov
If you wish to beat Kollontay, first off, best of luck to you. He’s quite a challenging opponent, and he doesn’t fight alone. Kollontay always surrounds himself with four guards, equipped with a variety of weapons and armor, along with a few frag grenades and flashbangs. I recommend putting down the followers first, as they’ll aggressively push your position and cause havoc.
Once you’re focused on Kollontay, keep your distance. If he pulls a baton and uses his melee strike against you, your weapon can jam and break, leaving you devastatingly open to further attacks. Instead, push into the building, shooting as you move, take cover, and then slowly retreat to new positions.
If Kollontay spawns inside of the Shopping Mall, a far more open and expansive arena, you’ll want to force the entourage onto one of the stairwells on either side of the structure. They’re open-air stairs but relatively confined if five enemies push upward. You can lob a grenade over the railing into the crowd to deal massive amounts of damage. Otherwise, set up with a vantage point aimed toward the stairwell entrance and let loose the moment Kollontay shows his ugly mug.
To make life a bit easier against Kollontay and many of the other Escape From Tarkov bosses, I recommend unlocking M80 ammunition as early as possible.
