Dead by Daylight: Is there a Fix for Error Code 8012?
Error Code 8012 is one of Dead by Daylight’s peskiest issues, appearing when a player cannot connect to the game’s servers. This can be rather frustrating, but don’t despair quite yet. There are a few workarounds to this petty but unfortunately common error in Dead by Daylight.
Check Server Status
As Dead by Daylight is an online game, it needs stable servers to work. However, from time to time, for some reason, these live servers stop operating, which causes Error 8012 to appear.
What you should do is check if the DBD servers are down. If you discover that servers are offline, you’ll have to wait until they’re restored as there’s nothing you can do on your end.

Check Your Internet Connection
If servers are working and you still can’t play the game, check if your internet is working properly. If you are using a WiFi connection, switch to a wired Ethernet one.
Restart Router and Device
If switching to a wired connection doesn’t resolve your issues, restart your PC or console.
Reinstall/Repair Easy Anti-Cheat
Easy Anti-Cheat system is a combat software many PC games use to fend off hacking and cheating in online multiplayer. However, this system sometimes malfunctions, causing problems such as the 8012 error.
Reinstall or repair EAC by following these simple steps:
- Locate the DBD folder on your device.
- Enter the ‘Easy AntiCheat’ folder in the DbD directory.
- Right-click the ‘Easy AntiCheat_Setup.exe and click ‘Run as Administrator’.
- Follow the steps to repair or reinstall the software.
- Restart your PC and launch Dead by Daylight.
