While Starfield is a massive game, there are a few nagging issues that seem to take folks out of the overall immersion of the game. No matter if you’re playing on PC or console, it’s easy to see that this is the most polished Bethesda release that has ever happened, but there are still a few issues that are plaguing the game, such as stuttering audio or a complete lack of audio during pivotal scenes. This primarily seems to be affecting PC users, so let’s get ready to fix it and get back to exploring the galaxy.
How To Fix Audio Issues in Starfield
Depending on where you are playing Starfield, you’ll have a few different options. If you’ve jumped into the Steam release of this game, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve verified your game files to ensure that nothing went wrong during the installation of this particular Space epic. If that comes back clean, however, there are a few other options we can try to get you back in the right gear:
- Make sure that Starfield is installed on your SSD rather than an HHD.
- Update all of your Drivers and install Windows updates that could be hindering the audio.
- Turn off any Upscaling/Dynamic Resolution options you may have enabled.
- Turn your Graphical Settings down and test the audio once again.
- Uninstall/Reinstall Starfield.
If these options do not work, make sure that your rig can run Starfield. You may need to upgrade some of your components to get the best experience possible since this is a massive game that requires a fair bit of storage space.

While these options may have worked for us playing on PC here at the Prima Office, they’re not a guaranteed fix. We may need to wait for a Hotfix to deploy before this stuttering audio bug is patched out for good, much like the “You’re Too Early” error that plagued players during Early Access.
Until then, make sure that you’re keeping your eyes peeled on our Starfield section below so you can learn more about this epic spacefaring adventure.
