Warhammer 40K: Darktide was released in its pre-order beta earlier today, giving fans the ability to play the game early and help test it before going live. Features are being rolled out slowly over the next two weeks before launch, leaving plenty of time to test new and exciting things. The less exciting part about these betas though is the bugs and issues, something Fatshark’s Vermintide 2 is notorious for (still an incredible game though). Here’s how to fix the backend error in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
What is the Backend Error in Warhammer 40K: Darktide?
We have some good news and some bad news for you all. The good news is that you can rest easy, the issue has nothing to do with you. As this is a backend error, it’s related to Fatshark’s servers and not your connection, game install, or anything of the sort. This primarily consists of launch issues, and the servers being under stress from the influx of players. The bad news with that means that the fixes are limited, and what’s there is far from guaranteed to work.
The first, and easiest thing you can try, is simply to restart your game. Restarting the game will naturally have the game try and reconnect to the servers. This could potentially fix the problem, as could a restart of your whole system albeit less likely. If neither of these works, repeat login attempts could yield results. This all depends on their servers again, so don’t be surprised if it fails.

As much as it’s a shame that the servers are inconsistent, it’s to be expected given that the game just launched. Every multiplayer game under the sun has launched with some sort of server instability, so some patience for the opening days is to be expected. Once you do get into the game though, good luck!
