Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is finally available on Steam after its original release earlier this year. The excellent Metroidvania adventure from Ubisoft Montpellier is one of our favorite titles of the year, and we’re glad it’s now available for Steam users as well. Despite multiple updates over the last few months, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown does not have proper ultrawide support. Thankfully, a patch by p1xel8ted from the widescreen community adds ultrawide support to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Fixing the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Ultrawide Issue
To add ultrawide support to the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you need to install a patch created by p1xel8ted from the widescreen community. It’s not perfect, and the main caveat is that the map fog will be completely removed without any points of interest. However, this is the closest they’ve come to adding support so far.
- Head over to the following GitHub link
- Download the patch file by clicking the 01.PrinceOfPersia_v0.1.4_CustomBepInEx.zip under assets
- Extract the zip file in the game’s installation folder
After you’re done, make sure to play in Fullscreen mode, otherwise the patch won’t work.
Here is a screenshot of how the game looks with the patch applied:
All credits for the fix go to p1xel8ted, and you can consider supporting them at ko-fi.
Patch Features
- Makes all resolutions and aspect ratios “valid”.
- Corrects UI scaling.
- Option to keep UI at 16:9 positions instead of expanding.
- Option to select what display to use.
- Option to remove fog from the map. Recommended to use Guided Mode so you can use the POIs to track where you’ve been.
Further adjustments can be made by editing the configuration file in the following location inside the installation folder.
BepInEx/config/p1xel8ted.princeofpersia.ultrawide.cfg
To remove the patch, simply delete the files extracted. We hope that official ultrawide support is planned for the title, because currently, even though this fix gets the job done for the most part, the map fog has to be removed.
